Respect For Life Day at Cardinal Hayes

On Tuesday October 21st, 2014, our eighth graders went to Cardinal Hayes High School for a presentation from Generation Life about chastity. Approximately nine-hundred eighth grade students from our catholic schools attended.
During the presentation, Generation Life discussed the importance of chastity and the gift of life. They discussed the repercussions of premarital sex and how it affects everyone, not just ourselves. They stressed the importance of staying pure until the day we exchange vows in our future.
To highlight the importance of chastity they discussed the impact a teenage pregnancy can have on our lives.  More importantly, they stressed the life of the baby, which begins at conception.   They showed us a powerpoint presentation depicting the stages of a fetus from conception to birth.  It was very powerful, and proves that life begins once an egg is fertilized.
Generation Life interacted with the audience as well. For example, they set up Chastity Jeopardy, where four girls and four boys were chosen to participate. Two of our eighth grade girls were chosen, and they answered one of the questions correctly!   At the end of the game, the girls got pink Generation Life shirts.
Generation Life did a great job teaching our students about self-respect and chastity.  It was a great way to share a wonderful learning experience with our peers!

We hope the eighth graders had fun and learned the importance of living a moral life.
